BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On Sunday morning, members of the Titusville Police Department and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office responded to a violent incident at Parrish Hospital where an individual violently attacked and killed a patient of the hospital and a Parrish Hospital employee.

While the suspect of the “Active Shooter” styled incident is in custody, our hearts and prayers go out to the victims, their families, and the entire Parrish Hospital Family who lost a member of their team in this morning’s incident.

I want to not only commend the responding Officers and Deputies who immediately took control of a very hectic scene, but also commend the hospital staff and Security Team who’s actions without question saved lives during this extremely violent incident.

As the incident unfolded, the hospital staff precisely followed every emergency protocol available to protect their patients and staff.

While it is still very early in the investigation, it appears that the shooter was stopped by two unarmed security guards who worked together as a team to attack and take the shooter to the ground after the first barrage of shots were fired.

The two Security Team members maintained control of the subject until the cavalry could arrive and take the subject into custody. Their heroic actions are to be commended as they neutralized the threat so no one else could be harmed.

Please keep the victims, their families, and the Parrish Hospital Team in your thoughts and prayers as they cope with this horrific incident.
