Florida Fish and Wildlife Officials Rescue Turtle Entangled In Crab Line
By Space Coast Daily // July 7, 2016

Officer Spoede and Lieutenant Adriano of the Florida Fish and Wildlife found themselves in a turtle rescue, recently, that involved a fisherman’s call about a turtle entangled in a crab trap line.
The adult loggerhead was located about half-mile offshore in the Gulf and was seen with its head out of the water for air. However, as soon as FWC responders approached the distressed turtle to untangle it, the loggerhead dove under the water.
The situation turned into an underwater rescue operation as Officer Spoede had to submerge himself completely underwater to cut all the lines.
In the end, the turtle was untangled and freed completely unharmed.
Remember, if you see a marine turtle in trouble call the FWC’s Wildlife Alert Hotline, 888-404-3922 (FWCC), dial #FWC or *FWC on a cell phone or text Tip@MyFWC.com and report the location of the animal, its signs of injury or distress, the nearest boat ramp and contact information.
