SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Florida man has been arrested for animal cruelty after police say he intentionally set a pet bunny on fire.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office charged 22-year-old Manasseh Walker with lighting the rabbit on fire, named Thumper, in June.

The suspect reportedly doused the rabbit in accelerant and lit the rabbit on fire.

Witnesses claim he was bitten by the rabbit then set the bunny on fire while chasing it.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office created the hashtag #JusticeForThumper as part of social media campaign to capture the suspect.

Thumper is expected to make a recovery.
