BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol Troopers and several fire rescue units responded to a crash on Interstate 95 just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
All I-95 northbound lanes were shut down by a tractor-trailer crash in the area of the U.S. 192 exit at Mile marker 180 in Melbourne.
According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, one southbound lane was also been shut down.
“One person was trapped and required heavy extrication to free them,” BCFR said.
“The complexity of the rescue and the extreme heat were just two of the challenges our crews faced. The patient was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert and their condition is unknown.
“A big thank you and a “job well done” goes out to our BCFR crews on scene including District 60, District 80, Engine 83, Truck 82, R83, R82, BCFR Special Ops (48), Palm Bay Fire Rescue and Jack’s Wrecker Service.”
