BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Fire Rescue announces the first annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to be held on Saturday, September 10th beginning at 6 p.m. at the Cocoa High School Stadium.

Firefighters will join police officers and citizens to pay tribute to the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 by climbing the full length of stairs 11 times.

This equals the 110 floors of the World Trade Center.

“It’s our way of remembering and honoring those who died,” said Firefighter Allen Clark who is coordinating the event.

“People can come out and do the full climb or just a part of it. It’s all about paying tribute and finishing the journey.”

The event is free and open to the public. Firefighters ask anyone interested to register in advance in order to get a proper estimate of participation.
