lacrosse Youth clinic to take place before game

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The University of Florida men’s lacrosse team will take on UCF lacrosse in the first-ever meeting of the teams on the Space Coast. The game will take place Saturday October 22 at 7:00 p.m. under the lights at Viera High School.
Hosted by the Space Coast Gator Club, the event is a fundraising effort for both teams, as both universities only contribute a portion of their team’s operating costs.
A youth lacrosse clinic for novice and experienced players will take place on the field with the players at 5:00 pm. The clinic is open to all age groups. Experienced players should bring their own gear.
If you are new to lacrosse as a spectator and want to learn about one of the fasting growing sports in the country, a “Lacrosse 101 Class” for novice fans will be held at 6:15 p.m.
There will be handouts and live demonstrations so that a new fan to the sport can enjoy the game. Rosters for both clubs will be given out to all attendees.
UF and UCF Alumni clubs will have information available, as well as Friends of Brevard Lacrosse and other local organizations and vendors.
Concessions will be available for dinner, and drinks will be available for the duration of the event.
Both teams play in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association and are in the South Eastern Lacrosse Conference. Miami, South Florida and Florida State round out their division opponents. UF came away with a hard-fought 12-11 victory the last time the two teams played.
Advance tickets are just $5 for adults and $5 for the youth clinic. Children 10 and under are free.
