MYFWC – And the Academy Award goes to…the hognose snake!

These snaky con artists are harmless but will go the extra mile to trick potential predators into thinking that they are venomous.

When threatened, they will hiss, jerk about and flatten their necks (like a cobra’s hood) to appear dangerous despite actually being harmless.

They may even strike with their mouths closed.

If this display of intimidation fails, they swiftly transition to Act Two of their performance—the dramatic death scene.
