BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA –  The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) are investigating a suspicious incident that has resulted in the death of a man on Saturday morning.

The man was identified as 57-year-old Peter Robinson of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Officers responded to the area of Sebastian Inlet State Park on Saturday at around 7:15 a.m., where it was reported a naked man was acting erratically, according to Cpl. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived and located the man, he was naked in the inlet waterway and was not coherent and appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance, according to Cpl. Jacobs.

Deputies detained the man who was later identified as 57-year-old Peter Robinson. Robinson was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center by Brevard County Fire Rescue for evaluation but when he arrived at the hospital, he was pronounced dead.

According to Brevard County Sheriff’s Agents, they soon learned that during the hours leading up to the initial report of the incident at Sebastian Inlet, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and Indian River Shores Police Department had interacted with Robinson after attempts to conduct a traffic stop on Robinson for erratic driving.

On each of the attempts to stop Robinson’s vehicle, the law enforcement agencies terminated the attempted traffic stops after Robinson actively fled law enforcement efforts, according to Cpl. Jacobs.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are conducting independent and a parallel investigations.
