ORANGE COUNTY, FLORIDA (WFTV) – There’s mystery surrounding what led to a car crashing into a pond, and what happened to the people involved.

Deputies were called around 4:30 p.m. Friday, to Canoe Creek Falls Drive on Orlando’s south side.

Witnesses called Channel 9 to report seeing someone inside the vehicle drive into the pond. A dive team was on their way to see if anyone was inside the vehicle.

One woman said she thought the driver of the car that ended up in the pond was being chased.

Multiple witnesses reported a second vehicle is involved, but deputies have not confirmed that information.

Rescue crews spent hours on the banks of an alligator-filled pond trying to pull the car out.
