By Wayne Ivey, Brevard Sheriff // September 27, 2016
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Please join me in congratulating our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit for their recognition in the 2nd Annual Bruce Rossmeyer Motorcycle Skills Challenge.
This past Saturday our Motor Unit participated in the annual event where 80 Motor Officers from various agencies throughout the state competed.
The event recognized several areas of motorcycle handling expertise and operation skills, but most importantly, was an opportunity for Motor Officers to train together and learn from each other along with distinguished experts in the field.
Motor Units are essential to effective traffic enforcement and patrol operations. Through effective awareness programs, safe driving education and a visible presence, traffic crashes and fatalities are reduced.
Unfortunately, the Motor Unit is one of the most dangerous assignments and requires continues training, effective equipment and operational expertise.
Your Brevard County Sheriff’s Motor Unit proudly serves our communities and citizens in a very efficient and safe manner. This year’s award recipients are:
Sgt. Scott Behringer –
2nd Place Over 50 class
5th Place Division 2 Expert
4th Place Team Shootout
Dep. Bryan Kanipe –
3rd Place Division 2 Expert
Dep. Luke Pearson
1st Place Division 2 Expert
4th Place in the Team Shootout
Please join me in congratulating all of the event’s participants and in thanking them for the job they do each and every day to protect our community!!
