Florida Highway Patrol: Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle Tuesday Morning In Merritt Island

44-Year-Old Woman Killed

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle early Tuesday morning in Merritt Island near N. Banana River Drive and Stafford Ave.
The victim’s name has not been released yet, but is identified as a 44-year-old woman from Merritt Island.
According to the report by Florida Highway Patrol, a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 60-year-old Victor Quintero-Ortiz, was traveling southbound on N. Banana River Drive as the woman was walking northbound on the shoulder of N. Banana River Drive.
The woman attempted to cross the road, which wasn’t a designated crosswalk, and was struck by the vehicle where she succumbed to her injuries, according to Trooper H.E. Dulin.
The victim’s name will be released when the family has been notified.
Alcohol was not a factor in this incident, says FHP.
Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
