BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA –The recognition continues to roll in for Florida Tech goalkeeper Christian Moerch as the freshman was named the Division II College Player of the Week by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday.
The Oslo, Norway product played a key role in the Panthers’ wins over Sunshine State Conference foes Saint Leo and No. 22 Rollins.
Moerch turned away six shots and allowed just one goal as FIT picked up a 2-1 result against SLU on the road Wednesday. He then followed it up by holding a talented Tars squad to no goals on 17 shots Saturday en route to a 1-0 victory.
Moerch is 4-0-1 in five starts this season with 18 saves and a 0.77 goals against average.
The NSCAA College Players of the Week are a weekly recognition of the on-field accomplishments of players competing at the intercollegiate level.
The NSCAA names one male and one female recipient at all three NCAA levels and the two Junior College levels, selected from nominations submitted by sports information directors.
The NSCAA College Players of the Week are announced every Tuesday throughout the fall college regular season on NSCAA.com.
Moerch and the undefeated Panthers (5-0-1, 3-0 SSC) have a pair of important road games this week against Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday and No. 2 Lynn on Saturday.
