BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – The Titusville police have reported an armed bank robbery suspect has been shot and killed Wednesday at about 10:50 a.m. at the Bank of America near Harrison Street and Barna Avenue.

The suspect has been identified as an adult male Titusville resident, whose identity will be released at a later time.

The incident began when officers responded to a report of an armed bank robbery in progress at 2600 Barna Avenue at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday.

According to Titusville Police Commander Todd Hutchinson, arriving officers encountered the armed suspect on Barna Avenue near Harrison Street and the suspect was shot and pronounced deceased a short time later.

“The preliminary investigation shows the officer was forced to use deadly force because of the actions of the armed suspect,” said Commander Hutchinson.

“No officers were injured in this incident. Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is on scene and is handling the officer involved shooting investigation.”

As standard policy, the officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation. No injuries to law enforcement were reported.
