TRAFFIC ALERT: U.S. 1 At State Road 520 Shut Down Due To Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Pedestrian

UPDATE: SEPT. 13 – 4 p.m.
East and westbound lanes of State Road 520 are reduced to one lane at the east side of the intersection of U.S. 1, according to Yvonne Martinez, Cocoa Police Department Public Information Officer. Traffic will be slow moving in this area for at least three hours for traffic crash investigation.
Martinez Described the Incident:
Just after 2 p.m. the driver of a gold-colored SUV traveling eastbound on State Road 520 struck a white male on foot. The impact caused the pedestrian to go airborne before landing on a maroon colored pickup truck in the westbound lane after which he came to rest on the ground in the middle of the roadway. According to witnesses the driver of the SUV briefly stopped before fleeing the scene.
Traffic homicide investigators are currently documenting the scene and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to please contact the Cocoa Police Department at 321-639-7620.

TRAFFIC ALERT: U.S. 1 at State Road 520 has been shut down due to a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The intersection of U.S. 1 at State Road 520 has been shut down due to a traffic crash, in which a pedestrian was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle, according to the Cocoa Police Department.
The victim was taken to the hospital and bulletins have been issued for the suspect vehicle which fled the scene.
According to Cocoa police, they are seeking a gold Ford Explorer, tag number CPSX59. The suspect is described as a white female.
