ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCFKnights.com) – It’s game week for UCF Football. It’s a new era for the Knights and there are tons of new items for fans to experience this season at Bright House Networks Stadium.
It will be a smorgasbord of the senses for UCF fans. The following is a look at many of the new things UCF fans will see, hear, taste, smell and feel beginning Saturday, when the Knights will take on South Carolina State. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. But the newness will begin long before kickoff.
Here’s a look at the Top 50 new items for 2016 UCF Football (in no particular order):
- New head coach Scott Frost
- New faster-paced offense
- New defensive scheme, moving from a 4-3 to a 3-4 alignment
- New uniforms, with 64 different pants/jersey/helmet combinations
- New video board at Bright House Networks Stadium
- New sound system in Bright House Networks Stadium
- New UCF Football Tailgate Concert Series presented by FM 96.9 The Game, featuring Gin Blossoms headline concert Sept. 3
- New Bud Light Tailgate located at IOA Plaza, with the best seats in the house for the concert series, along with food and drink included, for just $40 (Buy S.C. State | Buy Season Pass). Call 407-823-1000 for more information.
- New beer garden located on IOA Plaza
- Food trucks on IOA Plaza prior to the game
- New family-friendly interactive activities on IOA Plaza that will change for each game
- New Knight Walk – the team will enter the stadium through IOA Plaza 2 hours, 15 minutes prior to kickoff
- New UCF Knights Mobile App – stay up to date on everything you need to know for game day with our new official app

- New this year is complimentary (that’s right, free!) food from 4 Rivers Smokehouse in the Carl Black & Gold Cabana
- New wrap/signage around the Bright House Networks Stadium field
- New field design with a completely updated look in the end zones
- Black and gold flags along the top of Bright House Networks Stadium
- New banners and concourse signage
- New bathroom signage inside the stadium
- Fireworks and pyrotechnics
- New Marching Knights Director – Find out what Dr. Tremon Kizer brings to the Marching Knights this fall
- New seating section for the band. The Marching Knights will now fill Sections 135 and 136
- Keep your eyes on the skies. There will be a flyover Sept. 3
- New team intro video. The Knights will take the field with a new video on the new board
- New field decorations. During that team introduction, the Knights will be taking the field with some new flags and other surprises
- Speaking of introductions. The Marching Knights will get their own intro video on the new board
- New oath. Coach Frost has developed the Knights’ Oath. Fans will be encouraged to recite it with the team between the third and fourth quarters
- New tailgating spots on Memory Mall. Another 80 spots were added this season. And all of them sold out for the home opener
- New registration dates for Memory Mall. You can now register, beginning at 6 p.m. the Sunday before a home game
- New One Stop Cool Zone added inside Bright House Networks Stadium behind Section 133
- New upgrades to the One Stop Cool Zone behind Section 106
- Two new water monsters inside Bright House Networks Stadium, providing free ice water to fans
- New water monsters on Memory Mall (five of them) providing free ice water to cool off
- New specialty hot dogs for each game. Located in the Knight Zone stands in each end zone, near Sections 103 and 122
South Carolina St. – Palmetto Dog (with pulled pork, slaw, Carolina BBQ sauce and onion strings)
Maryland – Bay Dog (with lump crab meat, mayo and Old Bay seasoning)
Tulane – French Quarter Dog (with red beans and rice and andouille sausage)
Temple – Philly Cheese Dog (with sautéed onions and peppers and cheez whiz)
Cincinnati – Queen City Dog (with fried Goetta sausage, sauerkraut and German mustard)
Tulsa – OK Dog (with ground beef, sautéed white onions and crispy fried onions) - New specialty burgers at “Graze” located at Gate 12
Cuban Burger (burger with Swiss/American cheese, ham, pork and pickles on Cuban bread)
The “Pig”asus (burger with sliced pork belly and pimento cheese on ciabatta roll)
The Classic (two burger patties with lettuce, tomato and onion on a ciabatta roll) - More new concessions at Gate 18. Fresh cheese steaks, sausages, grilled chicken sandwiches and burgers
- New water option. One-liter Smart Water available at all kiosks for $5
- Free Coke cell phone wallets with the purchase of two 20-ounce Coke products
- New fully-responsive web site (UCFKnights.com) makes mobile use on game day easier
- Libra Drive expanded to four lanes for better traffic management before and after game
- New parking management partners for Gold Zone lots
- New dynamic ticket pricing models
- New Knightmare Rewards program for students
- Newly-remodeled Knights Plaza in front of CFE Arena will be finished prior to Family Weekend game vs. Maryland
- New rewards/prizes for kids completing the Junior Knights projects during games
- New reserved group tailgate locations near IOA Plaza
- Commemorative season tickets showcasing the 10th season of Bright House Networks Stadium for those who have held tickets for five or more consecutive years
- Features on the 10th season of Bright House Networks Stadium
- New video control room that will run all the content on the new video board in both Bright House Networks Stadium and CFE Arena
