BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After a week off, the Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer team is hitting the road for a couple of big games in Missouri this weekend.

The Titans have had over a week off since a double overtime loss to Florida National and are ready to get back onto the field.

“We have certainly been challenged, no doubt about it,” Eastern Florida State College men’s soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said.

“We are still in the rankings (No. 17) and although we are 2-2 and other teams around us are 5-0, it shows our strength of schedule.”

Both of the team’s losses have come in double overtime, the first coming against No. 2 San Jacinto College and coach Twelvetrees knows those games will only make them stronger.

“We have faced a lot of adversity both on and off the pitch and I think that will help us and put us in a good position down the road.” – Oliver Twelvetrees

“The double overtime losses, we talked about as a team, touch wood we don’t think after that feeling we had, that we will have that happen again but everyone knows going into the conference schedule and going into the national tournament you will probably be in overtime games, no doubt about it.”

“Having that experience early in the season will definitely be a character builder for the team.”

A good weekend will put them back on track entering the Region 8 Conference schedule.

However, it won’t be easy as they head to Jefferson College for a couple of tough games, beginning Friday night against unbeaten and No. 14 Illinois Central College.

The team will spend the day in St. Louis Saturday sightseeing before facing host Jefferson College on Sunday. The Titans defeated Jefferson last year in the national tournament and know they will be a tough matchup as well.

“Jefferson College is always a perennial powerhouse in the Midwest, so we will be facing two very, very strong programs and if we can go up there and go 2-0, which will be the goal, that will be mission accomplished,” Twelvetrees said.
