BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police Detectives identified and arrested a man suspected of aggravated battery and armed robbery by using a computerized composite sketch resource, known as FaceLogics.
Jermaine Shawnta Evans, 29, of Orlando, was arrested on Wednesday without incident and charged with four felonies, including Aggravated Battery, Robbery with a Firearm, Grand Theft and Burglary.
According to Amy L. Matthews, spokesperson for the Titusville Police Department, on Thursday, Oct. 13, police reported that a male victim was dragged from his vehicle, beaten with a 2×4 piece of lumber and robbed of his cell phone in the area of 4th Avenue by an unknown suspect.
During the preliminary investigation, the victim supplied investigators with the suspect’s physical information, and with FaceLogics technology, a computerized rendition of the suspect was produced.
“Alert officers used the composite sketch to identify a possible suspect,” said Matthews in a release.
“Witnesses positivity identified that suspect as the person who committed the battery on the victim.”
Evans is a convicted violent felon and was currently on Federal Probation at the time of his arrest. He was booked into the Brevard County Jail and is being held on a $265,000 bond.
