Tammy Russell, 40, of Melbourne, was killed early Sunday morning about 12:20 a.m. when the golf cart she was driving overturned into a water filled canal at Whispering Oaks Circle and Aurora Road.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Tammy Russell, 40, of Melbourne, was killed early Sunday morning about 12:20 a.m. when the golf cart she was driving overturned into a water-filled canal at Whispering Oaks Circle and Aurora Road.

According to Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol, Russell was in a heavy duty golf cart accompanied by James Russell, 54, of Melbourne.

The golf cart was traveling behind the Russell’s residence in a grassy area, and for an unknown reason, the golf cart traveled down the embankment and overturned into the water filled canal.

According to Sgt. Montes, the victim was unable to escape and died on the scene.

This crash remains under investigation.
