Melbourne Officer Helps Mother Save Child Hanging Off 16th Floor of Radisson Oceanfront Hotel

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police Department responded to a incident Monday afternoon when a distraught 15-year-old girl was threatening to jump off the 16th floor of the Radisson Oceanfront Hotel, according to Commander Dan Lynch of the Melbourne Police Department.
Officer T.J. Sonnenberg responded to the call at the hotel and was told the juvenile was hanging over the edge on the 16th floor.
Officer Sonnenberg made haste up to the 16th floor and found the mother of the girl desperately holding on to her arm, as she was straddling the edge, attempting to break her mother’s grasp.
The officer quickly approached the girl and pulled her off the edge as she was leaning over.
“The quick action of the officer who responded allowed this unfortunate situation to have a successful conclusion,” said a spokesperson with the Melbourne Police Department.
