A hurricane watch has been issued for Brevard County, from the Volusia-Brevard County line south to Deerfield Beach.

NATIONAL HURRICANE SERVICE – A hurricane watch has been issued for Brevard County, from the Volusia-Brevard County line south to Deerfield Beach.

Additionally, a tropical storm watch is in effect from the Seven Mile Bridge in the Keys to Deerfield Beach, including Lake Okeechobee.

The next advisory is at 5 p.m.

The most recent update for Hurricane Matthew from the National Hurricane Center shows the storm’s eyewall passing within approximately 53 miles from the Brevard County coast late Thursday evening, into the early morning hours on Friday.

Hurricane force winds extend 40 miles and tropical storm force winds 185 miles from the eyewall of the storm.
