BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – When Darien Davis transferred from Florida Gulf Coast University, Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer coach Jeff Carr hoped she would add another scoring option.

Davis has done just that and more, scoring in 11 of the Titans 15 games this season. And earlier this week the sophomore from New Port Richey was named the Region 8 women’s soccer Player of the Year.

Davis leads the Titans with 15 goals and has 10 assists heading into the NJCAA National Championship Tournament, seven of those goals coming against Region 8 teams.

Teammate Nathali Da Silva was named the Freshman of the Year, scoring 13 goals and assisting on nine others in her first season with the Titans.

“It’s a testament to how special both Darien and Nathali are on the field and they are even better young ladies off the field,” Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer coach Jeff Carr said.

Teammates Bunny Shaw, who has nine goals in eight games this season, and Juna Suppan, who has been the leader on the defensive side of the ball, also made the first team.

Goalkeeper Taylor Major, defender Kelsey Kiely and midfielder Jay Bales were on the second team, giving the Titans seven players on the all-conference teams.

“We are really pleased to have seven chosen from our team and especially considering everything the team went through this season – to be recognized by our conference for player of the year is quite an honor,” Carr said.
