Among five finalists of more than 1,700 entires

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Tammi Peterson and Meghan Murphy of Palm Bay were surprised with the news last week that they were among the five finalists out of more than 1,700 entires in a national sweepstakes sponsored by The Knot, a popular online wedding magazine, and Superpretzel.
The entrants were asked to share what unique factor they would be bringing to their ceremony or reception, so the couple described how they would be married by a good friend in drag, Kyle Stewart aka Deja of Key West, and also include both male and female friends on each side of the wedding party, calling them “bridesmates” instead of “maids.”
“Although some may find it shocking to be married by a man in a dress,” the contest entry reads, “to us it’s part of the (LGBT+) culture…and an important statement towards gender fluidity and sexual identity freedom.”
Peterson and Murphy plan on marrying next November and hope to use those winnings to help offset the costs of lodging for out of town guests.
“We would appreciate as many votes, shares and ‘likes’ as we can get,” said Murphy.
“We feel so honored and grateful to Superpretzel and The Knot for just choosing us as finalists, but winning would be a dream come true for any same sex couple. It’s revolutionary.”
