ABOVE VIDEO: Cocoa Chief Mike Cantaloupe administered the police officer’s oath of office to Johnathan Swain, who was sworn in during a special ceremony Monday morning at City Hall. The Mayor, members of council, city staff, family and friends were present to witness the occasion.
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Chief Mike Cantaloupe administered the police officer’s oath of office to the newest member of the Cocoa Police Department on Monday.
Johnathan Swain was sworn in during a special ceremony Monday morning at City Hall. The Mayor, members of council, city staff, family and friends were present to witness the occasion.
Swain is originally from Oregon but has lived in Florida for approximately 18 years. He worked as a security guard and later an extradition sergeant. He also served two years in the U.S. Army.
Swain fills one of several upcoming vacancies within the agency which anticipates several retirements in the coming year.
He is currently assigned to a field training officer where he will spend approximately three months learning the policies and procedures of the department.
After successful completion of the Field Training Officer program, he will be deployed to solo duty.
