Cocoa Police Investigate Shooting In Cocoa Early Friday Morning That Results In Vehicle Crash

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Detectives with the Cocoa Police Department are currently investigating an overnight shooting that left one man wounded at around 3 a.m. Friday, near the area of Fiske Blvd. and Mitchell St. in Cocoa.
According to police, the investigation has revealed the victim, an adult black male, was driving northbound on Fiske Blvd. and was turning westbound onto Mitchell St. when the occupant or occupants of a vehicle behind him opened fire.
The driver of the victim’s vehicle was struck causing the vehicle to crash. The passenger in the victim’s vehicle attempted to render aid.
“The victim was taken to the hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition,” said Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.
Detectives have reviewed surveillance cameras from within the area of the shooting and have determined the suspect vehicle is a white sedan, possibly a Nissan Maxima or Altima model.
Detectives are continuing to interview witnesses and are asking anyone with information to contact the Central Florida CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.
