FHP: Motorcycle Collides With Semi In Deadly Crash On State Road 520 Saturday Morning

28-year-old Shawn Walker of Merritt Island killed
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash early Saturday morning that has claimed the life of 28-year-old Shawn Walker of Merritt Island near State Road 520 and E. River Edge Blvd. in Cocoa Village.
According to Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened Saturday at around 1:23 a.m where a semi was stopped in the right lane facing eastbound on SR 520 which was an active lane closure, at the time. The semi then rolled into the outside travel lane, right into the motorcyclist’s traveling lane who was continuing to head eastbound on SR 520.
The front left of the motorcycle struck the right rear corner of the semi trailer causing the motorcyclist to be ejected off the bike and killing Walker.
The driver of the semi is identified by Florida Highway Patrol as 55-year-old Juan Serrano of Cleveland, Ohio.
Serrano was not injured in the crash.
The motorcyclist was not wearing helmet, according to a FHP report.
The crash still remains under investigation by Florida Highway Patrol.
