Melbourne Police Department Arrests Two Suspects For Various Drug Charges

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police arrested two suspects Friday afternoon for possession of various drugs and drug paraphernalia.
In a release by police, officers responded to the area of the 14oo block in Tradition Circle in reference to a suspicious vehicle with two people that appeared to be sleeping, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers observed two people passed out in the vehicle and several items of drug paraphernalia lying on the occupants’ laps.
Officers reportedly knocked on the door windows at which time the man in the driver’s seat and woman in the passenger seat woke up.
According to Sgt. Brittney Skovsgard of the Melbourne Police Department, the man and woman initially refused to open the door, however after multiple attempts they eventually complied. When the driver exited the vehicle, a container that was in his lap fell to the ground and a baggie containing a white powdery substance was observed. There were several bags of methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia located throughout the vehicle.
The suspects were detained and a narcotics detective responded to the scene due to the large amount of drugs and paraphernalia.
The driver was identified as 28-year-old Dakota McBryar and the passenger as 27-year-old Hillary Wegman.
Both McBryar and Wegman were placed under arrest and charged with trafficking over 20 grams of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of clonazepam, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence.
McBryar was additionally charged with providing a false name to law enforcement, possession of another individual’s identification card and violation of probation. McBryar also had an active felony warrant for his arrest.
Both suspects were booked at the Melbourne Police Department and transported to the Brevard County Detention Center.
