**UPDATE** BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – The officer involved in a shooting incident back on December 1 has resigned from the Rockledge Police Department, according to Chief Joseph P. LaSata.

The officer is identified as Corporal Galluzzi.

Galluzzi’s resignation comes during an ongoing investigation by Florida Department of Law Enforcement regarding the shooting incident that left a 17-year-old male shot on December 1 near Cogswell St. and Hawk St in Rockledge.

The incident was captured on a body-camera.

According to Rockledge Police Department spokeswoman Donna Seyferth, authorities responded just before midnight on December 1 after receiving numerous calls from local residents about two people breaking into cars.

When police located the teens, the two teen suspects fled from officers in a white Toyota Corolla but later struck a police cruiser which ended the chase, according Seyferth.

The other suspect is identified as a 15-year-old male and was arrested.

The 17-year-old was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center and is continuing to recover.

A few days later police said they recovered a shotgun was located inside the car the two teen boys were driving in and located multiple stolen items inside the car which were returned to their rightful owners.
