Waves are looking mostly unrideable this morning. Late-morning's lower tide could help make the small waves more rideable by then. Surfers seeking an early morning surf session may want to focus on Cocoa Beach's northernmost beaches for a longboardable wave. — Friday: Surfers will find very small waves this morning with clean conditions from a light offshore breeze. Saturday: A strong cold front will move through our area on Saturday. Surf will be mostly unrideable early, but will build during the afternoon. Sunday: The cold front will drop air and water temperatures to the lowest so far this season. Waves will build into the chest- to head-high range with very bumpy and drifty conditions from a strong northeasterly wind.

Saturday: A strong cold front will move through our area on Saturday. Surf will be mostly unrideable early, but will build during the afternoon.

Sunday: The cold front will drop air and water temperatures to the lowest so far this season. Waves will build into the chest- to head-high range with very bumpy and drifty conditions from a strong northeasterly wind.

Cocoa Beach ocean temperatures now average 70 degrees, but will drop into the upper 60s over the weekend.

Bob Freeman has been surfing Brevard’s waves since 1966. He was also the first to surf several of North Carolina’s remote islands in the mid ’60s and travels frequently to surf in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico and Hawaii. He provided his first surf reporting and weekend forecasts in 1968 live on WKKO radio from the RonJon Surf Shop on Cocoa Beach Pier. He was the 1968 Florida Men’s Surfing Champion and is the current Florida Legend’s Surfing Champion. He has gathered over 300 amateur 1st place awards in both shortboard and longboard divisions. He is a 2014 Inductee into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame.
