BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue Firefighter Woodrow Sweet has seen quite a few tragedies during his tenure with Brevard County Fire Rescue, but a recent call was especially difficult.

In the early morning hours of January 10, Sweet and his crew arrived to a house fire on Merritt Island. What they found inside was horrifying.

Dozens of animals were in the home when the fire broke out.

Firefighter Sweet and his crew worked feverishly to grab as many animals as they could in an attempt to save them, unfortunately, many of them perished due to the smoky conditions.

However, there is a happy ending to this story.
