Candlelighters of Brevard 2017 Have-A-Heart Valentine’s Extravaganza Set Feb. 11

EVENT SUPPORTS CHILDREN BATTLING CANCER
BREVARD COUNTY • INDIALANTIC, FLORIDA – Candlelighters of Brevard, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting children with cancer and their families by offering emotional support and financial assistance, will host the 2017 Have-A-Heart Valentine’s Extravaganza on Saturday, February 11 at the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place in Melbourne.
“The purpose of this event is to remember our children in their battle against childhood cancer – and also recognize our generous volunteers, sponsors and community for their tireless support of Candlelighters of Brevard over the past 27 years,” said Executive Director & Event Chair Natasha Duran.
“From economic assistance to emotional encouragement, join Candlelighters of Brevard in helping families survive the extreme physical, psychological and practical hardships of pediatric cancer.”
A Light of Hope for Kids with Cancer
What many people may not understand about childhood cancer is that the devastation reality of the disease goes miles beyond anything physical.
In addition to the extreme financial strain of paying for care, Brevard based families must also devote an overwhelming amount of time, travel and money for countless other expenses.
From the shock of the diagnosis, to the painful side-effects of treatment, the ongoing heartbreak and emotional impact felt by the entire family is hard to imagine. While nobody can see the diagnosis coming, we can make sure that Brevard patients and families have the support and resources they need to fight back.
“Because there are no pediatric oncologists in Brevard, 100 percent of our families must travel out of the county in order to seek medical care,” said Duran.
“These families also drive approximately 360,004 miles to their treatment centers. Last year COB families spent 1,103 days at clinic visits, 1,004 days in-patient and over 200 days were spent at the Ronald McDonald House.”
Special Celebrity Guest
Joining this event for the second year in a row is celebrity guest Darin Jordan.
This bigger than life personality is a former NFL linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers. Sponsored by Brevard County Hyundai Dealers, Darin helped raised more than $51,000 during the auction portion of the event.
Again this year, Jordan will sign autographs and take pictures with donors, sponsors and attendees at the private sponsor reception and event gala.
Additionally, you can be the winner of a beautiful 2017 Hyundai Tucson, courtesy of Brevard County Hyundai Dealers. You can purchase one ticket for $10; three tickets for $25; and seven tickets for $50.
