Eastern Florida State College Has Big Week Ahead For Winter, Spring Sports

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – If you are a sports fan, this is your kind of week at Eastern Florida State College.

The conference season is heating up for the basketball teams and the spring sports will open a new season this weekend.

The men’s basketball team will host ASA Miami tonight night in a Southern Conference game that will feature the Heritage High School band performing at halftime.

The men’s basketball team is 18-3 overall and 4-2 in the Southern Conference and are coming off a 128-point performance against Miami Dade.

ASA Miami comes into the game 2-4 in the Southern Conference and the Titans won the first matchup 69-56.

Kareem Brewton leads the Titans in scoring, averaging 21 points per game while Ahmed Ali is averaging 16 points per game.

The women’s basketball team will be on the road Wednesday night, traveling to Indian River State College for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff. The women’s team is 1-2 in the Southern Conference after falling to Broward College last Saturday.

Indian River State College is also 1-2 in the conference and is coming off a loss to Florida Southwestern who the Titans beat on the road earlier this season.

The baseball team will open the season at South Florida State at 3 p.m. Friday before the home opener Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Polk State College.

The baseball, softball, and tennis teams all kick off the spring season on Friday with road matchups.

The softball team will open the season with the JUCO Kickoff Tournament in Clearwater.

The team will play St. Petersburg College and Georgia Military College on Friday and then Tallahassee Community College and Illinois Central College on Saturday before opening the new softball complex on the Melbourne campus Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The baseball team will open the season at South Florida State at 3 p.m. Friday before the home opener Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Polk State College.

The men’s and women’s tennis teams will travel to Ave Maria to open the season and then travel to ASA Miami on Saturday for a showdown with one of the top teams in the country.

The team will also play St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon.
