Serious Car Crash In Melbourne Injures Elderly Woman Sunday Morning

77-year-old Sharon Gainey injured

Melbourne Police responded to a serious car crash that injured a 77-year-old woman Sunday morning on Sarno Rd. near the south entrance of Walmart on 1000 N. Wickham Rd.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police responded to a serious car crash that injured a 77-year-old woman Sunday morning on Sarno Rd. near the south entrance of Walmart on 1000 N. Wickham Rd.

The woman is identified as 77-year-old Sharon Gainey of Indian Harbour Beach and suffered serious injuries, according to Sgt. Marty Miller of the Melbourne Police Department.

When rescue crews arrived at around 11 a.m., they discovered the 2015 Hyundai had struck a telephone poll, and after further investigation, investigators believe Gainey could have suffered a medical episode that resulted in the car crash.

Gainey was transported to Wuesthoff Medical Center.

The incident remains under investigation at this time by police.
