Two Injured After Ambulance and Vehicle Collide In Merritt Island Intersection

At State Road 520 and North Courtenay Parkway

A Brevard County Fire Rescue paramedic and the driver of another vehicle were both transported to a hospital this evening after a two-vehicle collision that occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in the intersection of State Road 520 and North Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard County Fire Rescue paramedic and the driver of another vehicle were both transported to a hospital this evening after a two-vehicle collision that occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in the intersection of State Road 520 and North Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island.

The Fire Rescue ambulance from Station 41 on Merritt Island was headed to a medical emergency when the collision occurred. A second paramedic in the ambulance was not injured.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. The ambulance driver was transported to a hospital for observation.

The driver of the second vehicle reportedly suffered minor injuries and was also transported to a local hospital. There were no other injuries reported.

Both vehicles in the crash sustained moderate damage.

The medical emergency was on South Merritt Island. A fire engine was already on scene, and the patient was transported to a hospital by another ambulance.
