Val Silvestrini Gets Win No. 200, Panthers Softball Stays Hot With Two More Victories Saturday

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Val Silvestrini earned her 200th win as the Panthers’ head coach in convincing fashion as FIT defeated No. 10 Wayne State 8-0 in 5 innings in the first of two games Saturday at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
Six players accounted for the eight runs the Panthers hung on the Warriors.
Karina Suicava contributed two RBIs on one hit. Krista Patterson and Alexus Smith chipped in one RBI apiece, each with one double.
Senior Rachel Pence (5-1) threw all five innings surrendering no runs on one hit, no walks, and three strikeouts.
In Game two, the Panthers continued their winning ways defeating Central Missouri in a thrilling 3-2 game.
Vanessa Rubio and Makayla Palmer had two hits during the contest, each earning an RBI, including a double by Rubio. Hailey Leonard pitched in with a double and two runs scored as well as two stolen bases.

McKenzie Krutsinger (1-1) started the game for the Panthers, going 2 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on four hits and striking out one.
Amanda Kahn also allowed just one run on four hits over 2 1/3 innings.
Earning her first save of the year was Rachel Pence in a two inning performance allowing no hits or runs, and striking out four.
Panthers concluded the NFCA Leadoff Classic with a pair of games against Texas A&M – Commerce and Georgia College today.
