Eastern Florida State College Titans Receive At-Large Bid For NJCAA Division I Tournament

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team is heading back to the NJCAA Division I Championship Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas for the third straight season.

The Titans received an at-large bid Sunday evening after finishing runner-up in the Region VIII Men’s Basketball Championship Tournament in Ocala over the weekend.

The Titans come into the tournament 28-5 and are 8-2 in the past 10 games and has five wins against teams in the tournament.

“I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity we have for this amazing bunch of guys,” Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball coach Jeremy Shulman said.

“They are so deserving of getting this bid and a chance to play for a national championship. The NJCAA truly sent out a message today on the importance of strength of schedule and who you play.”

And thankfully they recognized the unbelievable schedule and resume we had at Eastern Florida. Humbled and grateful!”

Northwest Florida State, who the Titans beat in the semifinals of the Region VIII tournament, also received one of the final four bids along with host Hutchinson and South Plains College in Texas.

St. Petersburg College won the Region VIII tournament giving the state of Florida three teams in the tournament.

The national tournament begins March 20 with the championship game scheduled for March 25. The seedings show will be Monday afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m.
