Sheriff Wayne Ivey Throws Out Ceremonial First Pitch To Open Port St. John Little League Season

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT ST. JOHN, FLORIDA – I was honored to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on “Opening Day” Saturday of Port St. John Little League’s 2017 season.

Prior to throwing out the first pitch I was given an opportunity to speak with the hundreds of players, coaches, volunteers and parents who all work together to make each baseball season successful for both the players and spectators.

It was an honor to speak to the athletes and their families today as youth from across our county celebrated the opening day of Spring Baseball.

As an added bonus, while I wasn’t expecting to get to throw out the first pitch, I was honored to do it and tried to put a little “heat” on it before it went low and way outside! Thankfully I had a great catcher behind the plate that kept it from getting away from us.

I would like to personally thank Adam Mallard, the league president, and the entire Port St. John Little League board, for allowing me to not only address the audience but also in having the opportunity to throw out the season’s first pitch.

Additionally I want to thank all the coaches, parents and volunteers for all they do to support the youth of our community and in having a positive influence on every child who walks on the field.
