BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The largest construction project ever undertaken by Brevard County Government’s Utility Services Department is underway at the South Central Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility in Viera.

A planned $42 million expansion will virtually double the size of the facility, which serves Viera, Suntree, and a portion of West Cocoa with wastewater treatment and water reclamation services.

There is currently an equivalent of 28,443 residential connections, and the expansion will double the current six million gallonsper-day capacity.

“The timing is right for this expansion as Viera continues to grow at a rapid pace,” said Utility
Services Director Jim Helmer.

“The six million gallons per day expansion should be the ultimate build out for the service area. It will provide wastewater treatment for the foreseeable future, providing a total of 12 million gallons per day of wastewater treatment capacity.”
