BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Jose H. Valcourt III, 14, has earned the Boy Scouts highest rank of Eagle Scout and will celebrate this accomplishment with a special Eagle Scout Court of Honor this weekend.

The rank of Eagle Scout may be earned by a Boy Scout who has been a Life Scout for at least six months, has earned a minimum of 21 merit badges, has demonstrated Scout Spirit, and has demonstrated leadership within his troop, team, crew or ship.

Additionally he must plan, develop, and lead a service project—the Eagle Project—that demonstrates both leadership and a commitment to duty.

“Our son wanted to do something special for Harbor City Elementary school where he attended, so he met with the principal and came up with his Eagle Project, a reading and meditation garden for the children,” said his proud mother Lissette Valcourt.
