BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – On this edition of In the Red Zone with Steve Englehart, Flora Tech Panther head football coach Steve Englehart and Space Coast Daily Sports Talk, Alan Zlotorzynski discuss last Friday’s spring football game, won by the defense.

Coach and Alan also discuss what’s upcoming this off-season, including the big fishing tournament and how newly reinstated QB Mark Cato fits back in with the 2017 Panthers.

Speaking of the 2017 Panthers, the team also announced the upcoming schedule for the season, which includes five home games at Florida Tech Panther Stadium.

Florida Tech finished the 2016 season with a program best 8-2 regular season record and appeared in their first ever playoff game.

Heading into 2017, expectations are high as the Panthers get set to face yet another tough Gulf South Conference schedule. The GSC is often referred to as the SEC of Division II football.

2017 SCHEDULE:

FIT kicks off the campaign at home on Sept. 2 against an unfamiliar opponent in Virginia University of Lynchburg. That matchup is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.

The following week, Florida Tech will test its might when it travels to Lake Charles, Louisiana to square off with FCS member McNeese State on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. CT.

The Crimson & Gray return to Panther Stadium on Sept. 16 for their Gulf South Conference opener against Shorter at 7 p.m. before hitting the road to Clinton, Mississippi to take on GSC opponent Mississippi College on Sept 23.

Florida Tech will be looking for revenge when it welcomes GSC rival West Florida to Melbourne for the second annual Coastal Classic on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.

The next two weeks will see the Panthers on the road taking on a pair of NCAA playoff teams from a season ago. First, the team travels to Florence, Alabama for a showdown with defending GSC Champion and 2016 national runner up North Alabama on Oct. 7.

FIT then heads over to Tigerville, South Carolina for a rematch with the team that knocked the Panthers out of the playoffs last year, North Greenville, on Oct. 14.

Florida Tech hosts GSC foe West Alabama on Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. before making its way to Valdosta, Georgia for a league bout with Valdosta State on Oct. 28.

The Panthers’ annual Homecoming Game and Senior Day Game will take place on Nov. 4 against GSC powerhouse West Georgia at 1 p.m.

Florida Tech concludes the regular season on Nov.11 in Cleveland, Mississippi against Delta State.

Ticket information regarding the 2017 season will be released shortly.
