ABOVE VIDEO: SPACE COAST DAILY TV UPDATE: Police have arrested the suspect that was involved in a standoff with police Friday afternoon which began around 2 p.m. Authorities note that the incident is still under investigation and more information will be provided soon.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and West Melbourne Police Department joined the Melbourne Police, which worked the scene that included a man barricading himself from police for 5-hours on Friday afternoon near W. Eau Gallie Blvd. and Holland St. in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are working an active scene that includes a man barricading himself from police near W. Eau Gallie Blvd. and Holland St. in Melbourne Friday afternoon.

Police are asking anyone in the neighborhood to stay inside their homes and stay clear from area.

Authorities also say they are continuing to attempting to make contact with the person.
