BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Area firefighting units and the Florida Forest Service are fighting brush fires in south Brevard County Sunday afternoon.
Palm Bay Fire is fighting fires within the confines of Hallendale (east) to Madden (west) and Banyan (north) to Krome (south) off Bombardier.
At this time no homes have been damaged, but residents have been advised of the situation and some have self-evacuated, according to Sgt. Christian Van Zandt.
Also, firefighters in West Melbourne are battling a 40-acre brush fire in the vicinity of the Carriage Gate subdivision, according to the Florida Forest Service.
According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, moderate wind and dry conditions are hindering firefighters.
