BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The long, hot days of summer are fast approaching and Brevard Zoo plans to help visitors keep their cool by reviving Arctic Blast Tuesdays.
Every Tuesday in June and July at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., Zoo staff will dump two to three large blocks of ice in the Paws On “play lagoon,” a shallow water play area. Each block weighs approximately 300 pounds.
“The kids love this more than just about anything,” said Andrea Hill, director of marketing and communications at the Zoo.
“The ice melts quickly in the summer heat, so you’ll want to be there when they put the blocks in the water.”
Brevard Zoo is home to more than 800 animals representing 180 species from all over the world. As a not-for-profit organization, it is a leader in the fields of animal wellness, education and conservation.
