Merritt Island Man Killed After Van Strikes Light Pole Early Sunday Morning

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly single-car crash early Sunday morning that killed a 37-year-old man near Courtenay Pkwy. and Diana Blvd. in Merritt Island.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man killed is identified as 37-year-old Jacob Seymour from Merritt Island.
Authorities say Seymour was traveling northbound on Courtenay Pkwy. at around 1 a.m. when his 2007 Chrysler Van drifted off the roadway and onto the east shoulder, striking a light pole.
Rescue crews responded to the scene and transported Seymour to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he later died.
FHP is still investigating the cause for the crash.
