Propeller Club Names Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray 2017 Maritime Person of the Year

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – The Propeller Club of Port Canaveral has named Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray as the club’s Maritime Person of the Year for 2017.
Capt. Murray was selected for his leadership of Port Canaveral over the last year since being chosen by the Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners as the port’s CEO in January 2016.
A presentation was made to Capt. Murray at the Propeller Club’s annual ShrimpFeast held last month at Cruise Terminal 5 at Port Canaveral.
Capt. Murray joined the port after serving as President and CEO of Hapag-Loyd USA, LLC. He began his maritime industry career going to sea as a Third Mate after graduating from the Maine Maritime Academy.
After working his way up to the position of Captain, he came ashore to take on management leadership positions beginning with Lykes Lines which eventually became part of Hapag Loyd.
