Red Nose Day has raised more than $1 billion

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – GT USA employees across Canaveral Cargo Terminal operations donned bright red noses at work on Thursday, May 25, demonstrating their support for Red Nose Day 2017 as the company announced a $1,000 donation to the charity created to help children living in poverty.
Red Nose Day is a fundraising campaign run by the non-profit organization Comic Relief Inc., a registered U.S. 501(c)(3) public charity.
The money raised supports programs that ensure children in need are safe, healthy and educated.
“Our team at Canaveral Cargo Terminal had fun participating in the Red Nose Day, and more importantly, we are proud to support the campaign to help change the lives of children in America and around the globe,” said Peter Richards, CEO of GT USA, operators of the new multipurpose cargo and container facilities at Canaveral Cargo Terminal.
GT USA executives, managers, administrators, terminal staff and equipment operators were joined by partners Nooter/Eriksen, Bigge Crane and Rigging,
AWFS, American Guard Service and Canaveral Port Authority in raising awareness for Red Nose Day at a gathering at port alongside the Happy Dynamic, a BigLift cargo vessel that made its maiden call to CCT this week.
Beneficiaries of program grants include organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America; charity: water; Children’s Health Fund; Feeding America; Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; National Council of La Raza; Save the Children; and the Global Fund.
Red Nose Day launched in the United States in 2015, with funds raised benefitting programs for children and young people in all 50 states and in 25 countries internationally.
Since launching in the U.S., Red Nose Day has received generous support from millions of Americans, as well as schools, small businesses, corporations and signature sponsors such as Walgreens, NBC, Mars and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Globally, Red Nose Day has raised more than $1 billion since its launch in the United Kingdom in 1988.
GT USA’s parent company, Gulftainer, has supported Red Nose Day across its 15 terminals and logistics center in eight countries for many years.
