Eastern Florida State College pitcher Tommy Romero was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 15th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College pitcher Tommy Romero was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 15th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

Romero finished his sophomore season as the FCSAA Pitcher of the Year after helping guide the Titans to 31 wins and a trip to the state tournament.

Romero led NJCAA Division I baseball in strikeouts with 136 and was fifth ERA with a 1.13 earned run average. His nine wins was tied for 22nd in the nation.

The sophomore finished with a 13.91 strikeout per nine rate and struck out at least 10 hitters in nine of his 14 regular-season starts this season.

The Ft. Lauderdale native was also recently named the Region 8 Pitcher of the Year.
