Merritt Island Little League was 3-0 in pool play

Joe LeBlanc’s Florida District 22 All-Stars Little League Report.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 8/9/10 Baseball division finished up at Indian River City Little League’s W.W. James Park, where the visiting Mims Little League (MLL) met the Merritt Island Little League (MILL).

Mims’ Larry Stewart and Preston Zediker scored MLL’s 2 runs. For MILL, Bryce Anderson scored twice while Alex Gregiore went 2-for-3 and scored 2 runs, and Bode Handwork went 3-for-3 scoring 2 runs.

MILL’s Alex Gregiore was the winning pitcher and Joe Hollenback got the save as MILL won 12-2 in 3 1/2 innings.

With the win, MILL was 3-0 in pool play winning the division and advancing to the Section 3 Tournament on July 8th to represent District 22.

The visiting Merritt Island Little League (MILL) Intermediate team met Indian River City Little League (IRCLL) in their rubber game.

MILL’s Emily Hollenback went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, while Logan Araj added an RBI double and RG Egge drove in a run with an RBI single.

But, IRCLL’s bats were hot as Josh Davis was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Luke Durrance was 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI, Mike Sanchez went 3-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI, and Gage Krull, Nino Sconiers & Shayne Stock each added RBI singles.

Luke Durrance pitched 4 strong innings striking out 6 to pick up the 18-8 win for IRC in 6/12 innings. IRC clinches the 50/70 division with the win and will represent District 22 in the Section 3 Tournament on July 8th at W.W. James Park.
