Titusville Man, 81, Dies After Deadly I-95 Crash With Semi Thursday Morning

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper witnessed a deadly crash involving a vehicle and a semi Thursday morning on I-95 near mile marker 210 and Port St. John.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper witnessed a deadly crash involving a vehicle , a semi and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) vehicle Thursday morning on I-95 near mile marker 210 and Port St. John.

FHP says the man killed is identified as a 81-year-old man from Titusville.

Authorities say the trooper was investigating a recent two-car crash near the area, on the left side of the interstate, when the 81-year-old man attempted to change lanes heading southbound on I-95 and struck a semi.

The man in the vehicle then lost control, striking a guardrail and a unoccupied (FDOT) vehicle being used for the previous crash.

The elderly man was transported to Wuesthoff Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the semi-truck was 55-year-old Alan Olsen from Vero Beach. Olsen was not injured in the incident.

Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident and will release the name of the man killed, once the next of kin is notified.
