UPDATE: The Florida Department of Transportation has determined the hole in roadway on State Road 528 is not a sinkhole, but rather a leaking pipe underneath the highway.

Engineers are working to make repairs. However, the road will be down to one lane for much of the day. Again, this is the northern eastbound lane of SR 528 just west of Exit 45 (Industry Road).

Please use caution by slowing down through this area while workers make the needed repairs.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Sinkhole Slows Traffic On Eastbound State Road 528 Near Industry Road

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA –  A sinkhole has slowed traffic on eastbound State Road 528 that was discovered Monday morning.

According to the Cocoa Police Department, one eastbound lane of State Road 528 just west of exit 45 (Industry Road) is being shut down due to a large hole, possibly sinkhole in the roadway.

Police urge caution in this area as traffic will be slowing and the Florida Department of Transportation is on the scene to assess the roadway.
