Melbourne Police are investigating a shooting incident that left a young man wounded Sunday afternoon at around 2:40 p.m. near Lipscomb St. in Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a shooting incident that left a young man wounded Sunday afternoon at around 2:40 p.m. near Lipscomb St. in Melbourne.

According to Lt. Cheryl Trainer of the Melbourne Police Department, a young man walked into the Palm Bay Hospital ER after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

The man is identified by police as 19-year-old Denzel Scott, and claimed to be sitting in his car when the shooting took place.

Scott was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center for further treatment, where police say he is listed in stable condition.

Police are searching for a motive, however, additional calls were received by dispatch saying several cars had also been in shooting incidents near the area.
